Architecture poster assignment: Concept sketches and ideas

Before setting out to create a fully digital poster, I drew some concept sketches for my poster using a sketchbook and different drawing materials.

Here are some initial ideas, many of which needed to be scrapped in the end, as i needed to decide on a final idea.

I went through a few pages of concept art before i decided on three ideas to focus on.

When i eventually decided on ideas that i liked, taking into account feedback from tutors and classmates, I made those ideas bigger and drew them again, using more detail and colour this time, before deciding on my final 3 ideas.

Here is an example of one of my more finalised sketches.

Afterwards, I eventually decided on 3 final poster ideas, that I could then re-create using Photoshop and Illustrator as a final poster.

Once these sketches were done, I eventually re-created these final images in Photoshop and Illustrator, basing these re-creations on those final sketches. You can see the digital development process in another blog entry.

visual media: concept art

For our first piece of homework in visual studies class, we were asked to draw any picture we liked from a website recommended to us by our tutor, using the drawing techniques we learned drawing model dinosaurs during the lesson.

Drawing the dinosaur taught us how to use the extra space for shading and adding different values.
